Postal cover to mark celebrations for the birth centenary of former Odisha Chief Minister Shri Biju Patnaik
With preparations for the birth centenary of former chief minister Biju Patnaik on in full swing, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday unveiled a first day postal cover commemorating him.
"The special covers will recognise Biju Patnaik's contribution to the state and the nation. The young generation will know more about the legendary leader," said Naveen.
The postal cover, with a photograph of the leader, has been printed and developed by the India Post to mark Biju Patnaik's birth centenary, to be celebrated on March 5.

Chief post master general of India Post, Odisha circle, Tilak De, who attended the event, said, "As many as 1,000 postal covers will be printed and made available at post offices across the country."
A series of events followed the launch. Noted painter Baladev Maharatha exhibited five paintings of the late leader, depicting the varying shades of the leader's personality.
A calendar comprising rare photographs of Biju Patnaik was also released by Naveen at the event.
A website, www.bijupatnaik.org, was also launched, featuring his photographs, video footage and writings, and articles on him.
