Free pick up service for bulk mailers

India Post has come a long way since postal services were first introduced in the country on October 1, 1854. India Post has changed and so have the services it offers to the public.

With the drastic reduction in the number of personal mails, India Post is now offering a host of other services such as cash on delivery for parcel services and parcel packing units and has also opened Post Shoppe to provide add-on services.

On Saturday, India Post launched free pick up service for bulk mailers. The service was launched by Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) P. Dayanand.

K.H. Holla, Assistant Director (Mails), Office of Chief Post Master General, Bangalore, said bulk mailers could avail themselves of the new service. A minimum of 10 articles can be registered by customers to be picked up by the postal staff.

“All that customers have to do is to log on to India Post, Karnataka, website and register their request. We have hired vehicles to be used for the service,” he said.

With 20 two-wheelers already hired for the service, Mr. Holla said the three divisions in the city had been permitted to hire four-wheelers if required.
