Brief Note on the Joint State Level Convention of NJCA / JFROPS, Odisha held in Bhubaneswar on 05.02.2023

 

NJCA, Odisha State Committee revived 

The joint State Level Convention of National Joint Council of Action (NJCA ) and Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme (JFROPS), Odisha State Committee was concluded successfully on 05.02.2023 in Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Unit - III, Bhubaneswar - 751001.  

The Convention was inaugurated by Com. Dusmant Dash, Joint Convenor, Odisha Sharamik Karmachari Ekata Mancha who briefed the need of pension for an employee and extended the cooperation of OSKEM in this regard. Briefing the neoliberal economic policy of the Central Govt. resulting to flooring of NPS and other anti-employee, anti-people, anti-workers policies, he suggested the entire working class for a united movement failing which it will be difficult to achieve the genuine demands.   

Among others, Com. R N Dhal, President, CCGEW, Odisha CoC, Com. Debabrata Mohanty, Dy. Secretary General, NFPE, Com. P K Patashani, General Secretary, ECoRSU, Com. Sunil Mitra, Dy. G.S, ECoRSU, Com. PK Mohanty, President, OSGECoC, Com. S K Nayak, GS, OSGECoC, Com. BB Panigrahi, president, OSSTA, Com. P C Mohanty, GS, OSSTA, Com. Chittaranjan Pattnaik, Income Tax, Com. Somanath Nayak, GSI, Com. Ranjit Kumar Das, ECoRSU and many NPS beneficiaries and leaders of AIRF, Confederation of CG Employees and Workers, AISGEF and OSSTA also addressed the Convention sharing their experience on NPS and demanding restoration of OPS. 

The draft declaration was read out by Com. Bruhaspati Samal, General Secretary, Confederation of CG Employees and Workers, Odisha State CoC which was unanimously adopted by the house. In addition to the declaration, the following decisions were also taken to conduct all the programmes scheduled by NJCA CHQ successfully in Odisha Circle. 

1.    Individual organizations will organize in-house motivational workshops to aware their members about the crisis the employees and workers are going through and the need of such a series of agitational programmes.

2.    All the divisional, district level, regional and state level programmes designed by NJCA CHQ shall be conducted involving family members.

3.    Each organization shall try to involve maximum members in the proposed March to Parliament programme scheduled during monsoon session.

4.    Action will be taken by the core committee to bring all other like-minded organizations in Odisha under the banner of NJCA.

5.    Individual organizations shall contribute generously to raise fund for NJCA, Odisha. The core committee will decide the amount and manner.

6.    As early as possible, the next meeting of the NJCA core committee will be decided by the Convenor in consultation with the President.

      While, the meeting was jointly presided over by Com. Rabindranath Dhal and Com. Prasant Ku. Mohanty, vote of thanks was given by Com. Bruhaspati Samal. 

  The Convention left an indelible mark in the joint trade union movement of employees and workers of both Central Govt including Railways and State Govt. including Teachers for the first time in the State of Odisha with massive participation of as many as 250 leaders covering all districts of Odisha.  The house was reverberated with colossal voice of the participants, “Defeat Govt., if no OPS”. The enthusiasm of the participating leaders as witnessed in the convention was really historic. Everyone is committed to take ahead the proposed struggle programme of NJCA CHQ in Odisha with confidence in letter and spirit. 

While we are obliged to each organization and participant, NJCA, Odisha conveys its special thanks to Com. K C Mallick, Secretary (HQ), OSGECoC and his team who made all arrangements to make the programme successful.
