Message from Chairman, NFPE Odisha State CoC

 Dear Comrades,

As aware, the situation is going from bad to worse day by day during this second wave of COVID-19. We are witnessing frequent death cases of our staff member. On 9th May, 2021, we have lost three of our staff members from Balasore, Kalahandi and Berhampur Division.
The situation was appraised to the DPS (HQ) personally today morning impressing upon the following issues.

1.Immediate financial assistance to the family members of the deceased employee as admissible along with instant collection and processing of papers for compassionate appointment.

2.Special Drive for facilitating vaccination to all employees on priority basis.

We also reminded him about our letters written to Circle Office in this regard.

The DPS (HQ) agreed to our proposal. As told, all the Divisional Heads have already been directed in Officers’ WhatsApp Group for collection of required papers for compassionate appointment with priority to GDS employees since the Committee for the purpose is sitting bimonthly now. He assured that every effort will be taken to finalize the compassionate appointment to the eligible family member of the deceased GDS within two months positively from the date of death provided papers are found in order.

We requested the DPS to issue an official letter in this regard endorsing copy to Service Unions which may help us to provide necessary assistance to the family members of the GDS engaging our staff members for updating the required information / papers. He agreed to it.

Secondly, we requested for taking a special drive without any further delay to vaccinate all the postal employees including GDS. He told that today the Circle Office is going to monitor the case again with the State Govt.

As assured, both the letters on the above issues will be released today.

In this context, we would like to impress upon all our Circle / Divisional Secretaries of NFPE Unions in Odisha to stand by the family members of our deceased employees in the midst of the trauma and put every effort to extend all possible help.

We are trying our best to remain in touch with the Circle administration convincing our issues.

We do expect everybody’s wholehearted cooperation and appeal to share everything related to COVID-19 with us to take up at Circle level or at Directorate level through our CHQ.

May Lord Jagannath bless all to overcome the pandemic situation.
